Blundell’s School
About us:
Blundell's School is a co-educational institution in the English tradition, located in Tiverton, Devon. It has a rich history, having been founded in 1604 under the will of Peter Blundell, one of England's wealthiest men of the time. The school moved to its present site on the outskirts of the town in 1882 and has since developed a reputation as a school of choice in the region.
The school is led by Mr. Bart Wielenga and offers full, weekly, and flexi boarding options as well as day schooling for students aged 11 to 18. In addition to the senior school, Blundell's also has a Nursery, Pre-prep, and Prep school for younger pupils aged 3 to 11. This wide age range allows for a continuous educational journey from early years through adolescence.
Blundell's is known for its strong focus on academic success and good qualifications. The school aims to provide a rounded education where pupils learn to be flexible, articulate, and confident in their abilities. This approach is designed to educate young men and women who are capable of making a meaningful contribution to society. The community at Blundell's is described as thriving, steeped in history yet ambitious in embracing the opportunities available to pupils today.
The school accommodates around 615 students in the senior section, with a mix of boarding and day students, and around 250 students in the adjoining Pre-Prep and Prep school. Facilities such as the swimming pool are shared between the two schools, fostering a sense of unity and community. This blend of tradition and modernity, along with its comprehensive educational offerings, makes Blundell's a distinctive and sought-after place of learning.
