About us:
Chandlings Prep School, located near Oxford in Oxfordshire, is an independent co-educational day school for children aged 2 to 11. The school, founded in 1994, is set within 60 acres of beautiful grounds and is part of the Cothill Educational Trust. This trust also operates other preparatory schools in England and France.
The school has a strong focus on academic achievement and has integrated digital learning into its curriculum. Chandlings has also made strides in embedding engineering into the curriculum through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Design Technology, supported by sophisticated facilities.
In terms of facilities, Chandlings offers an indoor heated swimming pool, tennis and netball courts, playing fields, a golf course, and stables. There are also extensive woods ideal for woodcraft and nature study, including a new low-ropes course.
Pastoral care is a significant focus at Chandlings, with attention to the wellbeing of the children. The school believes in the importance of outdoor learning and encourages children to explore and learn in natural surroundings. They have specialized areas such as a woodland area for the nursery and a Bluebell wood for older children.
The school's head is Christine Cook, and the teaching staff includes more than thirty form teachers and specialists in various subjects. Chandlings places an emphasis on differentiated teaching to cater to the individual needs of pupils, including those with special educational needs such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and dyspraxia.
