Cheadle Hulme School

About us:

Cheadle Hulme School, founded in 1855, is a prominent independent co-educational day school situated in Cheadle, Cheshire, UK. The school is set in 83 acres of Cheshire countryside, offering a nurturing environment for motivated and happy pupils. It emphasizes the development of talents and personal skills, preparing students to face a rapidly changing world.

The school started as a boarding school for orphans, known as "Foundationers," and has since evolved into a renowned educational institution. During the 1950s and 1960s, it was recognized as a direct grant grammar school and became independent in 1976 following the abolition of the Direct Grant Scheme. In the 1970s and 1980s, the school experienced significant growth, including the expansion of the Junior School and the introduction of an Infants Department in 1998.

Cheadle Hulme School is non-denominational and accommodates around 1,517 students aged 4 to 18. It prides itself on high levels of pastoral care and offers a sound academic education with excellent examination results. The school provides a broad curriculum, including music, art, drama, and sports, with regular county and some national representatives in sport. The Junior School has a vibrant environment with a wide range of clubs and activities, and students participate in sports and music lessons as part of their curriculum.

The school is selective, and all students must meet the required standard for entry. It offers means-tested financial assistance to pupils in the Senior School and provides a range of scholarships and bursaries, including music scholarships and hardship awards for existing pupils. The day fees for the term in the 2022/23 academic year range from £3,315 to £4,588.
