Chepstow House School
About us:
Chepstow House School, located in Notting Hill, London, is an independent co-educational day school for boys and girls aged from 2 to 11. The school is part of the Alpha Plus Group and has been providing education since its opening in January 2010. It moved to its current location on Lancaster Road, London W11, in September 2014, which was previously known as the Isaac Newton Centre. This location allows the school to accommodate a three-form entry up to Year 6, with an option for students to continue at the school to the end of Year 8.
The school's ethos focuses on discovering the best in every child and challenging them to exceed their expectations. In a nurturing family environment, the school promotes positive learning experiences across various domains - academic, social, emotional, physical, or spiritual. Chepstow House School values each member of its community and ensures that all are appreciated as individuals.
The curriculum at Chepstow House School follows the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum, supplemented by subjects like PSHE, French, and Latin. The school also offers a range of extracurricular activities and hobby clubs. Specialist teachers are available for sports, music, drama, languages, art (from Year 1), science (from Year 3), and Latin (from Year 6).
Sport and the arts are integral parts of the school's offerings. A variety of sports are offered throughout the year, with competitive teams starting from Year 3. Art, music, and drama are taught as discrete subjects, and all pupils learn an instrument in class, with opportunities for extra-curricular instrument lessons.
The school is led by Mrs. Angela Barr, who has been the headteacher since its inception. Her leadership style is described as a mix of efficiency and creativity, with a focus on a school ethos that encourages individuality and personal growth.
Chepstow House School has a non-selective admissions policy and caters to children with the ability and aptitude to access an academic curriculum. The school also provides support for pupils with SEND, provided they have the appropriate resources to offer necessary support.
